In February of 2026, NIA released the U.S. Nuclear Energy Project Tracker to help stakeholders understand the status of early mover projects in the United States with respect to five key indicators: (1) site selection and site work, (2) licensing, (3) project teaming, (4) offtake, and (5) funding. The September 2026 update to that tracker is available today. Here are a few highlights:

Radiant has entered into contracts with Standard Nuclear and Centrus that will supply HALEU-enriched TRISO fuel for their Kaleidos DOME and future projects through the early 2030s.

The Long Mott Energy Project received an addition $1 billion in cost-shared DOE funding, and X-energy announced a definitive agreement with Centrus to supply HALEU beyond the initial core available through DOE’s HALEU Availability Program.

Oklo’s Groves Isotope Production Test Reactor achieved criticality in August 2026.

GE Vernova and Blue Energy have announced a strategic collaboration accelerate construction of the BWRX-300 design at Blue Energy’s Port of Victoria gas-and-nuclear project. GE Vernova has agreed to deliver two gas turbines for early site energization by 2029. Blue Energy has submitted the first part of their construction permit application to the US NRC.

The eVinci DOME demonstration completed criticality testing at the National Critical Experiments Research Center (NCERC), where they evaluated performance up to a NCERC site record of 1,011 degrees Celsius.
